Hi!! I’m going to be starting BB in July. Where did you find the female calculations?? I’ve searched high and low. Can’t find a female calculation.

Hi Kathy! Are you a Team Beachbody Club Member? The Body Beast eating plan in Beachbody On Demand has the calculations on page 7-9! If that doesn’t show up for you, shoot me an email at melissagoodrich.fitness@gmail.com and I’ll get them to you!

I sure am! I was trying to find it all over the place. Thanks a bunch! I have to admit, I’m nervous about bulk phase bc I don’t want to gain fat. But I’m going to trust the process.

Of course, I totally understand! Now obviously it will be necessary to gain a little bit of body fat – that’s just the nature of bulking up a little – but if you’re eating the right amounts, it will be minimal and it will shed easily! So don’t panic, don’t freak out, and yes, like you said, trust the process! You’ll do great!

What size dumbbells would you recommend women getting for use throughout the entire program? I don’t want to get too light or too heavy.

Melody – great question! It obviously will depend on your strength when you start. I have the Bowflex SelecTechs, and they cover from 5-52.5 lbs. If you have the ability to get those, PowerBlocks, or something similar, I highly recommend it. For me, the lightest weight I use during Body Beast is 7.5 for a few arm/rear deltoid moves, and the highest I use is 45 for some of the back and leg work. Each worksheet will give you some recommendations, but starting with 10-15 for upper body and 15-25 for lower is a pretty good range. And then adjust from there 🙂

Jennalee – I had to take a week off due to injury, so I will be posting an update with my final results in the coming week or so. Thanks for checking!

I’m working on writing an update this week. I had a rough experience with Body Beast this time around, as I mentioned in the most recent blog. Hoping to get it up this week.

    Hi Melissa,
I’ve read so many times that there isn’t enough time between sets to change out the dumbells. Do you have that problem at all with the adjustable bowflex ones? Thanks!

Hi Dani – I didn’t have that problem as long as I was TRACKING my weights. Then I knew exactly what I needed and when. And programs like this are actually the exact reason I got the Bowflex set. The change is so fast there’s almost no delay. The only way you could be any faster is to have a full rack of different weights 🙂
